Haven
(A poem-prayer for your weekend)
From January 23, 2021

God,
May my heart persevere to
hold space for the hurting.
May my eyes be warm windows to
home for those who’ve lost their
way.
May my mouth whisper peace
to those shaken.
May my presence be a haven for
those to whom fear has subtly
made itself a false home.
Still all that’s defensive in me—
so your love can move through.
Dismantle our dread.
Guide us through the dark.
Lead us home.
